I want my
clients to be fully informed during the whole tattoo process. Please
basic FAQ, then get
in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org when you're ready to get the ball
Q: How does the tattoo design process work?
If you already have a simple design, check in with me to make sure it's suitable for tattooing. If so, we can usually just make an appointment and do the tattoo in one shot.
If you want me to draw something original for you, check out
my tattoo portfolio
and make sure my style & sensibility make sense for your idea. Then
email me with your phone number, the best times to reach you, and a
description of your tattoo idea and placement (sometimes it helps if
you include images that are inspiring you). I will get back to you
For custom work, usually we'll make an appointment just to talk and do some initial sketching. Once we're confident we're on the right track, you'll leave a deposit (usually 30-50% of the total) and I'll finish the drawing at home.
Depending on the complexity of the design, either I'll email you a sketch to doublecheck with you, or we'll review it and adjust the design if necessary at our first tattoo appointment. I'm always happy to make changes within the scope of our initial conversation, but if you substantially change your ideas I may charge a drawing fee to cover my time. I never re-use a design I create for a custom client.
I require 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule appointments; you can lose your deposit if you don't give notice. Otherwise it counts towards payment for the last session of your tattoo.
Q: How much do you charge?
I charge $180/hr of actual needle-to-skin time, with some flexibility for larger pieces. There is no charge for consultations, setup, or water breaks. I accept cash, credit and Paypal. I will do my best to give you an accurate estimate before we begin the work, however a lot depends on how well you sit for the tattoo and how your skin takes the ink.
Q: What should I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Please arrive well-rested, well-fed and hydrated.
You might want to bring a protein-rich snack, a drink, loose
comfortable clothing and your favorite music. Your tattoo experience
may vary greatly depending on your frame of mind, the time of the month
and your physical health, so come prepared!
Q: Should I tip?
satisfied tattoo clients do tip, whether
with cold hard cash, or a thoughtful treat, or a sweet thank you card.
If you're happy with your work, I also appreciate it if you show it off
and send more clients my way :)
Q: How do I take care of my tattoo while it's healing?
Your tattoo will take two weeks to heal. During that time you will need to keep it clean and moisturized, and you will not be able to swim or otherwise soak your tattoo. Do not get a tattoo five days before your beach vacation :) I will give you more complete guidelines when we meet in person.
My work is guaranteed; if anything doesn't heal up perfectly, you have three months to come in for a free touchup.
